AIHce EXP 2020 Call for Proposals

DEADLINE is September 18, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Share your experience and knowledge at AIHce EXP 2020!

AIHce EXP’s PDCs and education sessions are where you can introduce participants to the latest occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) information, trends, technology, and best practices. Contribute to the conference and the profession by submitting a presentation in your area of expertise. Inspire and energize your colleagues with the information, solutions, and best practices they need to meet the challenges they face in their work.

Professional Development Courses (PDCs) are held before and after the conference, on Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday. These courses are in-depth, concentrated, formal learning experiences designed to broaden knowledge and enhance technical competence. A PDC can be a half-day, full-day, or two days in length.

Education Sessions take place Monday through Wednesday. Choose from the following types of presentations:

Case Studies and Scientific Research presentations are 20 minutes in length and have a single presenter.  If selected, your presentation will be paired with two separate presentations, from other presenters, addressing a similar general topic, to create a single 60-minute session.

Scientific Research (20-minute) – These presentations focus on the generation of new knowledge and understanding of basic mechanisms of a physical, chemical, or biological agent. Abstracts and presentations based on this type of research must have a research objective, detailed methods, results, and data-driven conclusions. Scientific research may be conducted in a laboratory, on a sample of study subjects, or in a sample of facilities or situations. Scientific research may also include data review and analysis.

Case Study (20-minute) – A case study will focus on a problem-solving approach in a specific situation. These presentations should describe applications of knowledge to real-world problems or an actual situation that was investigated or tested. Instructional type abstracts, e.g., describing a new methodology or equipment, should be submitted under this format. Abstracts and presentations based on professional practice must clearly present the situation or problem at issue, the resolution for fixing the problem, and the results and lessons learned.

Education Session (60-minutes) – These are sessions addressing topics within OEHS delivered in any format  from traditional lecture, interactive problem solving, and more. We encourage sessions that involve participants and create an engaging educational experience. Education Sessions can involve a single presenter or up to a maximum of three presenters.

SPARKtalks (5-minute) – In this session, each speaker prepares 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds, so the entire presentation is five minutes long. It’s a personal story about something you’ve accomplished, something you’re passionate about, something you love, or even something you can’t stand.

Professional Poster – OEHS professionals create a poster that summarizes your research and generates discussion and feedback.

Student Presentation – These presentations offer students the opportunity to present their research as part of the AIHce EXP Academic Track. Each session within the track is an hour long with a maximum of three presenters (20 minutes each). If the student is also submitting a student poster, this research should not be duplicative of that presented in the poster format.

Student Poster – Students created a poster that summarizes your research and generates discussion and feedback. This is an excellent opportunity to gain visibility for your research, make connections with professionals in the field, and gain recognition for your education institution. AIHA will be seeking student poster submissions under a separate review timeline that reflects university schedules. The deadline for Student Posters will be in March 2019.
