Equinox Gold has a multi-million-ounce gold reserve base and a strong production growth profile from three wholly-owned gold mines. Equinox Gold’s strategy is to become a diversified mid-tier gold producer within the next three years. The Company is delivering on that strategy, growing from a single-asset developer to a gold producer in just two years, and is on track to have three mines in production by mid-2020. The Company is in production at its Mesquite Mine in California, its Aurizona Mine in Brazil is on track to achieve commercial production around the end of Q1-2019, and its Castle Mountain Mine in California is expected to commence Stage 1 operations in early 2020. 

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The Sr. Industrial Hygiene Specialist is responsible for conducting all onsite Industrial Hygiene testing, analysis, evaluation, recommendation of controls, training and program creation and implementation 

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

·        Primary responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance and instituting site policy and best practices for all onsite Industrial Hygiene sampling and analysis (noise, dust, weld fume, mercury, lead, vibration

·        Provide guidance to site management on sampling results, analysis, supportive corrective actions utilizing hierarchy of controls

·        Train employees and take a proactive role in identifying and monitoring IH hazards in the workplace

·        Assist as necessary with Employee Wellness Programs/Activities

·        Inter-act with regulatory agencies (MSHA and Cal/OSHA)

·        Assist as necessary with injury case management

·        Assume weekend / after-hours emergency on-call responsibility as scheduled

·        Maintain accurate records and compile reports on all program functions

·        Assist with additional safety and health activities as required

 

MININUM EDUCATION OR SUBSTITUTED EXPERIENCE

·        Bachelors in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent, preferred Masters Degree in IH or equivalent, preferred

·        CIH, CAOHC certification and Pulmonary Function certificate, preferred

 

MINUMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·       At least 3 years experience in IH at an industrial site, preferred mining site OR at least 5 years experience in Safety with IH job duties in an industrial setting

SKILLS

·       Productive efficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power

·       Sampling Equipment such as Air pumps, Noise dosimeters, Heat Stress Monitors, Calibrators, Audiometric Sound Booth, and Pulmonary Function Spirometry Device
