Purpose & Objectives

The Editor of the fourth edition of The Occupational Environment: Its Evaluation, Control, and Management (“The White Book”) and AIHA Press are seeking potential authors interested in contributing to the book. Authors are needed for a new technical content area providing an overview of Public Health and the connections relevant to an industrial hygiene or OEHS professional.

The White Book remains an essential core reference for occupational health and safety practitioners, educators, and students. The book includes comprehensive information on hazard recognition and evaluation, physical agents, the human environment, controlling the occupational environment, program management, and much more.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The connection to Public Health is being added as new content in the fourth edition to provide a primer overview of Public Health practices. The selected author or authors will need to develop the chapter scope, content outline, and written content. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the new content based on current, reliable references
  • Providing a complete written deliverable covering all agreed-upon content areas
  • Meeting all project deadlines
  • Collaborating with other authors and editors

Project Team Selection Process

The process of selecting one or more authors begins with the open call for applications. Applications are reviewed and authors will be selected to provide full coverage of the content areas. Individual author selection will be based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated expertise
  • Relevant writing experience
