How to Take Action This Month- February 2018

February 12, 2018

Are you working on worker health and safety public policy issues? Maybe you just have a question? If so, then share your thoughts, questions, and activities with your colleagues on Catalyst! One of the main benefits of membership with AIHA is networking with your colleagues; the same is true for government relations – after all, it is all about helping people solve our collective problems. With that in mind, I’m going to ask you to try something out: Start a discussion in the Open Forum section of AIHA’s vibrant new online community and workspace – Catalyst – about the OEHS public policy work you’re doing, a question you have, or just your general thoughts and musings.

As the name implies, Catalyst is designed to be a testbed, incubator, and accelerant for ideas and professional networking. You’ll get a kick when people start replying to the discussion thread you’ve started, and you never know who you’ll meet as people express their interests!

AIHA has the following five public policy priorities that you may want to start a discussion on, but we work on lots of other issues, so if you’d like to post on another OEHS policy issue, please feel free to do so!

  • Protecting first responders and others from occupational exposure to opioids
  • Teen workplace safety education
  • Cannabis industry worker health and safety
  • Disaster preparedness and response
  • Protections for contingent workers

We hope you enjoy Catalyst and look forward to hearing from you!
