Government Relations Beta Group Exceeds New Milestone

AIHA’s Government Relations Beta Group continues to grow, topping more than 300 members! For readers who may be unfamiliar with the Group, it serves as both a means of organizing and activating AIHA’s members for grassroots government relations and as a place where specific public policy recommendations are developed.

If you’re interested in signing up, you can do so here.

Created in June of this year, the work of the Beta Group has truly just begun. The Group conducts its work via task forces, of which we currently have four: Safe Patient Handling and Mobility, Safety Matters/Teen Workplace Safety, Government Funding Accountability, and Cannabis Industry Health and Safety. There is no limit to the number of task forces that can be created, so if you’re interested in a particular worker health and safety issue that you feel deserves more attention from AIHA, then the Beta Group is a great place for you to join and propose the creation of a new task force to address the need you’ve identified. If you’re interested in creating a new task force or joining an existing one, please send an email to Mark Ames.

While many things remain to be determined with this experimental group, one thing is certain: your fellow AIHA members are deeply interested in government relations and are ready to put in the strategic work that will yield long-term success.

If you have the time, energy, and strong desire to work with policymakers at the various levels of government to protect worker health and safety, then you’re encouraged to join our growing community – we’d love to count you among our numbers!
