Heads Up: Upcoming Town Hall Meeting on Protecting First Responders and Others from Occupational Exposure to Opioids and Synthetic Analogues

The opioid epidemic affecting our nation is placing first responders, such as law enforcement and fire fighters, at risk of exposure to opioids and their dangerous synthetic analogues, including fentanyl and carfentanyl. These professionals can be caught unprepared, confronted with intense new hazards when responding to medical emergencies, executing search warrants of clandestine drug laboratories, during traffic stops, processing evidence believed to contain illicit drugs, and other scenarios. AIHA will host an event in collaboration with Virginia State Legislators, police, and fire fighters in January or February. This event, which was previously scheduled for December, will be live webcast and then posted online for later viewing.
