President Trump Nominates Scott A. Mugno to Head OSHA

Not to be lost amidst the other news, President Trump has nominated Scott A. Mugno to serve as the head of OSHA. According to the White House’s announcement, Mr. Mugno is currently the Vice President for Safety, Sustainability and Vehicle Maintenance at FedEx Ground. He has a long history of work with health and safety issues, and has previously signaled​ an openness to regulatory reform at OSHA. While such proclivities call for vigilance, they also present opportunities to engage discussions that may result in real reforms that benefit workers, employers, and all of society. A hearing on Mr. Mugno’s nomination has not been scheduled as of this writing.​​​ A hearing on Mr. Mugno’s nomination is expected during the last week of November or in early December.​​​
