TLV of Mixture - Liquid Composition

When the source of contamination is a liquid mixture and the atmospheric composition is assumed to be similar to that of the original material, e.g., on a time-weighted average exposure basis, all of the liquid (solvent) mixture eventually evaporates. Use the percent composition (by weight) of the liquid mixture as the decimal fraction. (Example: 0.43=43%). The TLVs of the constituents must be listed in mg/m3. (ACGIH TLVs)

Formula

  • TLVmix= 1 / (\(F_1 \over TLV_1 \) + \(F_2 \over TLV_2 \) + \(F_3 \over TLV_3 \) )
Variable Unit
TLVmix mg/m3
Fn decimal (fractional share of mixture as a decimal)
TLVn mg/m3

TLV of Mixture - Liquid Composition

TLVmix= 1 / ( \(F_1 \over TLV_1 \) + \(F_2 \over TLV_2 \) + \(F_3 \over TLV_3 \) )
TLVmix
= 1 /
