CALL TO ACTION
AIHA is holding an open call looking for a Representative for IOHA (The International Occupational Hygiene Association). This is a 3-year term opportunity. The International Occupational Hygiene Association is an association of occupational hygiene organizations from across the world and represents the global community of occupational hygienists. These organizations share a dedication to the discipline and application of the inherent principles of occupational hygiene. Since its creation in 1987, IOHA has grown to 35 member organizations, representing over 20,000 occupational hygienists worldwide. IOHA provides an international voice for the occupational hygiene profession through its recognition as a non-governmental organization (NGO) by both the ILO (International Labor Organization) and WHO (World Health Organization). Applications will be accepted until Friday, August 12 at 11:59 p.m. EST. To learn more about this opportunity, click here. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bethany Chirco.
The AIHA TEH/TWH AG is holding an open call to fill three (3) open seats, each serving a three-year term (2022-25). The TEH/TWH AG was formed in 2020 to provide strategic planning support and policy oversight to the AIHA Board and staff regarding the association’s Total Exposure Health and Total Worker Health body of content to ensure focus and direction of policies and programs. The group is comprised of up to eight (8) members representing a cross-section of the AIHA membership. Interested parties should apply by 11:59 p.m. EST, August 26. Our goal is to notify applicants within 2 weeks of the deadline stated above. In the event we do not receive a sufficient number of applicants, this open call may be extended. Should you have any questions about this opportunity please contact Alla Orlova.

Commit to C.A.R.E, launched by AIHA in partnership with the Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC), is a public awareness campaign and repository for a comprehensive suite of assets designed to help educate employers, employees, and the public on how to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the workplace and surrounding communities. We encourage you to share Commit to C.A.R.E with your colleagues and peers and invite them to take this pledge as well.
Become an AIHA Brand Ambassador
Over the last two years, AIHA has developed and launched the Worker Health Safety initiative focused on educating employers in the construction, chemical manufacturing and first responder industries about the value OEHS professionals bring to their organizations. We couldn’t have done it without our Brand Ambassadors, industry experts who share their expertise on how OEHS professionals add value to a company in a specific area. They are critical to the success of the Worker Health and Safety initiative, working with our team to develop content, conduct media interviews, author articles and speak at relevant conferences. This year we will be adding new industries to our outreach efforts. If you want to learn more about how you can become an AIHA Brand Ambassador, please visit our website, or contact Sue Marchese at [email protected].

AIHA is hosting this free workshop series to bring together experts in occupational risk assessment, including the EPA to discuss the various approaches to exposure and risk assessment used in different areas of practice, including chemical regulation (e.g., TSCA, REACH), health and safety compliance, research, and product stewardship. The first workshop, The Many Aspects of Occupational Risk Assessment: Understanding Differing Approaches and Goals, will be held on August 25, 1:00-3:00 p.m. EST. Registration is required for this free virtual workshop.
FREE COURSE: Making Accurate Exposure Risk Decisions
Accurate exposure risk decisions are critical to risk management programs that protect workers and optimize the use of limited resources. This video series will teach you a basic understanding of the properties of lognormally distributed exposure profiles and how to use traditional and Bayesian statistical analysis tools to make accurate exposure risk decisions based on monitoring data. The use of several freely available statistical tools will be demonstrated using multiple examples. Upon completion of the webinar video series, you will have the knowledge needed for the successful completion of the free exam for the AIHA Exposure Decision Analysis Registry.
AIHA has published the Spanish translation of “The Role of Industrial Hygienist in a Pandemic” guideline, which offers information on inhalation and airborne pathways and controls, provides a lexicon of terms and definitions, and connects pandemic response strategies to the NIOSH-supported Total Exposure Health and Total Worker Health frameworks. The Spanish version of the guidebook can be found on AIHA’s Recursos en español, an online library of public resources written in the Spanish language that promote health and safety in workplaces and communities. This center offers a curated collection of publications, infographics, guidance documents, and white papers at no charge to Spanish-speaking AIHA members, partners, media, and members of the general public.
