AIHA’s Response to Inaccurate Information
On a regular basis, AIHA continuously monitors the national as well as social media about people who claim to be OEHS or IH professionals who go against science. Up until now, we have managed these claimants on a case-by-case basis by taking the high road in the social stratosphere as well as responding to incoming media calls, doing interviews to refute these people’s claims standing our ground to always side with the science of the hierarchy of controls when it comes to risk mitigation.

Moving forward, AIHA will be taking on a more proactive role in terms of educating the media, bloggers, and social media influencers about the science behind the claims by issuing op/ed articles and proactively reaching out to media sources that cover stories about supposed spokespeople for the industry.

We encourage you, as members, to apprise us of any news coverage that includes inaccurate information or that quotes sources who do not agree with science, as many of you continue to do, and let us know your availability to work with us in our proactive media efforts to use this hashtag when you see something that is against the science: #KeepingtheScienceStraight. If you are interested in getting involved to help AIHA keep the science straight, please free to reach out to Sue Marchese, AIHA’s Managing Director of Marketing and Communications.

An Update from AIHA’s Board President
