Release No. WNT 19 0211
FALLS CHURCH, Va. (Feb. 11, 2019) – The American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo announced the two well-known trailblazers that are headlining AIHce EXP 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota: Carey Lohrenz and Leslie Saxon. AIHce EXP 2019 will take place at the Minneapolis Convention Center on May 20-22, with professional development courses offered May 18, 19 and 23.
AIHce EXP, with over 4,500 attendees, is the “must-attend” event for occupational and environmental health and safety professionals of all career levels, due in great part to its renowned speaker lineup.
Lohrenz is the first female U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot; a team-building, leadership and strategy expert; and author. Her presentation, part of the SGS Galson-sponsored general session, is titled “Lessons in Leadership” and will kick off the show on Monday, May 20, at 08:00 a.m.
Having flown missions worldwide as a combat mission-ready pilot, Lohrenz is used to working in fast-moving, dynamic environments where inconsistent execution can generate catastrophic results. Her experience in the all-male environment of fighter aviation and her ability to pass on the lessons learned in her career allow her to deliver insight and guidance from a credible platform on leadership, high-performing teams and peak performance. Lohrenz will kick off AIHce EXP 2019 with what promises to be an unforgettable presentation on strategies to take charge, navigate high-pressure conditions, overcome challenges and realize your vision.
The digital revolution has begun in health care delivery. The use of advanced sensor technology offers the opportunity to write the story of our medical care in a new and empowering way. This time the tale will be written collectively by the patient, provider, and technology. The old health care system will give way to Lifecare, a continuous narrative with the patient as storyteller. With the advent of this new technology, the big data it may generate, and the effects on Total Worker Health, the role of physicians will be to support this new narrative rather than dictate it. This will be the focus of our closing keynote speaker Saxon, executive director & founder of the University of Southern California Center for Body Computing. Saxon will be discussing “Reinventing Health Care and the Importance of Story ” on Wednesday, May 22, at 3:30 p.m.
An interventional cardiologist, Saxon is a professor of medicine and clinical scholar at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the executive director of the internationally acclaimed USC CBC. Saxon participates in the preclinical and clinical development and testing of wearable and implanted technology, including networked devices used in medicine, wellness and performance. Her work provides users with continuous and protected information about their health or performance status. She leverages her clinical expertise to develop device models and software solutions that offer engaging user feedback-based, real-time, physiologic data.
Another notable speaker for AIHce EXP 2019 is Keith Mercurio, the sales trainer for Nexstar Network and a sales, customer service and motivational instructor. His Tuesday morning session, “Win the Day: Using Emotional Intelligence to be Intentional and Effective and Succeed in Leadership, ” will help attendees understand the impact of emotional intelligence on their relationships and will provide case studies and tools for critical application in even the toughest circumstances.
To encourage IH/OH students and young professionals to enhance their academic goals, this year AIHce EXP will include the Academic Education Track. It allows students and young professionals to present in front of peers and experienced professionals, share research with other conference attendees, participate in discussions, examine health and safety career paths, and build work skills.
AIHce EXP provides a wealth of knowledge and expertise through a varied array of quality, peer-reviewed presentations. A diverse menu of formats, including general sessions, lectures, poster sessions, exhibitor learning pavilion sessions, and pre- and post-conference PDCs, provides multiple pathways to learning. Industry professionals also enjoy numerous networking opportunities to connect with their peers.
