American Industrial Hygiene Foundation Announces Virtual Fun Run
FALLS CHURCH, VA. (May 17, 2021)—The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF) has announced that its annual Fun Run will take place virtually between May 10–June 8, 2021. During the event, participants will complete either a 2.5-kilometer walk, 5-kilometer run, or 10-kilometer bike ride via a route of their choice, track their progress using GPS apps, and submit their results to AIHF for a chance to win raffle prizes.
The Fun Run was created to raise funds that will go toward scholarships for students pursuing careers in industrial hygiene and occupational and environmental health and safety fields. Registration costs $40 for an individual participant, $170 for a family of five, and $35 for a “sleep-in” participant, who donates without participating in the athletic event. This year, AIHF’s goal is to raise $20,000 in scholarship funds. Individuals or families can register online on AIHce EXP 2021 website.
“AIHA has a great volunteer community that is always looking for ways to give back and help the IH/OEHS profession,” said Thursa La, AIHF manager. “We are excited to continue the tradition this year, give everyone the chance to stay active, and support IH/OEHS students in need.”
“The AIHF Fun Run has been a tradition for 35 years, thanks to the support of AIHA members, runners, and sponsors,” La added. “This year, we are thrilled to welcome back Amazon as the Fun Run’s Premier Sponsor and introduce our new sponsors Cority and VelocityEHS. With their support, AIHF looks forward to inspiring even more runners to join this exciting event.”
The AIHF sponsors have been instrumental in helping the Foundation create scholarships, like the Amazon "Invent and Simplify" Scholarship, to support IH/OEHS students achieve their dreams.
Divided into three tiers, this year’s sponsors are Amazon, the Premier Sponsor; Alliant, Steel Dynamics, and Velocity EHS, the Silver Sponsors; and Chubb, Cority, and Half Draft Acres, the Bronze Sponsors.

The mission of the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation is to advance the profession of industrial hygiene and related disciplines by awarding scholarships to students in the field, and funding training and professional development opportunities for IH/OH professionals during the first 15 years of their careers. Since 1982, AIHF has distributed more than $2 million in scholarship funds to students pursuing degrees in industrial hygiene and occupational and environmental health and safety. These scholarships have enabled talented students to complete their educations and have encouraged the most promising scholars to enter and remain in the profession.
