CDC and OSHA Must Clarify What New Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People Means for Workplaces
While welcomed by many, the CDC’s latest guidance for fully vaccinated people has created troubling confusion among employers, workers, and worker health and safety professionals.
AIHA urges the CDC and U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to clarify what this new guidance means for workers and employers, and how they could implement it.
AIHA believes the guidance is insufficient and stands ready to help the CDC and OSHA clarify it, in keeping with our mission to protect all workers and their communities.
The latest CDC guidance issued May 13, 2021, states that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or practice physical distancing in any setting “except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance."
AIHA is the association for scientists and professionals committed to preserving and ensuring occupational and environmental health and safety in the workplace and community.
