Occupational Health and Safety Scientists Association Welcomes New Head of OSHA

October 26, 2021 (FALLS CHURCH, Va.)—AIHA, the association for scientists and professionals committed to preserving and ensuring occupational and environmental health and safety in the workplace and community, welcomes the confirmation of Douglas Parker as assistant secretary of labor for Occupational Safety and Health.
“AIHA looks forward to working with Mr. Parker towards our shared goal of protecting the health and safety of workers throughout the nation,” said AIHA CEO Lawrence D. Sloan.
In his new role, Parker will head the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Parker was part of Joe Biden’s presidential transition team on worker health and safety issues and previously lead California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) for two years. Under President Barack Obama, Parker also served as deputy assistant secretary for policy for the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
