AIHA®, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), and the National Safety Council (NSC) have sent a joint letter to Congress that expresses support for continued funding for OSHA and NIOSH in the fiscal year (FY) 2014 budget and urges congressional appropriators to, at a minimum, fund OSHA and NIOSH at the agencies’ FY 2012 program levels. The organizations also highlight the importance of NIOSH’s Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (AgFF) sector program and its Education and Research Centers (ERCs)—two programs that, for the third year in a row, face targeted reductions in funding in the president’s proposed budget.
The letter, which is addressed to Senators Tom Harkin and Jerry Moran, was sent to all Senate and House appropriators on June 21. Read the letter on AIHA’s website.
