AIHA Fact Sheet Addresses National Security Implications of Exporting and Importing Nanomaterials

Published May 9, 2018

A new fact sheet published by AIHA provides guidance to product safety specialists and industrial hygienists on export-import requirements for nanomaterials. In the United States, certain products of nanotechnology, such as high-tech carbon fibers, have been targeted for theft during export and import activities, and can be subject to rules intended to safeguard national security by prohibiting exports to certain destinations. The fact sheet provides an overview of the various agencies and regulations that govern import and export activities and includes a list of resources for compliance. The fact sheet is available as a PDF on the AIHA website.
