AIHA Thought Leader Encourages New IH Professionals to Get Involved

Posted August 20, 2014

In the latest video in the AIHA Thought Leaders series, John R. Mulhausen, PhD, CIH, discusses how he got his start in industrial hygiene and advises those who are just entering the field to take advantage of the opportunities within AIHA and its volunteer groups to get involved in the profession.

"I quickly learned what a wonderful resource AIHA's volunteer organizations are—not just for learning, teaching, and participating, but for really getting to know people in a broad range of capacities across our profession,” Mulhausen says.

Mulhausen, an AIHA Fellow, served as past chair of the AIHA Exposure Assessment Strategies Committee and was the 2002 recipient of the AIHA Edward J. Baier Technical Achievement Award.

The Thought Leaders project is a series of videos that capture the stories of several influential AIHA members. These videos offer multiple perspectives on the evolution of industrial hygiene and the efforts of industry leaders to adjust to new challenges, new occupational hazards, and new technologies for protecting workers.

The Thought Leaders series will run through the end of 2014, AIHA’s 75th anniversary year.
