Friends of NIOSH Support ERC Funding

Posted April 23, 2013
A select group of senators and representatives—including Senators Tom Harkin and Jerry Moran of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies—received a hand-delivered letter in support of continued funding for the NIOSH Education and Research Centers (ERCs) earlier this month from the Friends of NIOSH. The Friends of NIOSH is a coalition of industry, labor, professional, education, and scientific organizations that are dedicated to research and prevention of occupational injuries and illness and committed to the training of occupational health and safety professionals. AIHA, AIHA Local Sections, and other organizations in the industrial hygiene profession make up more than 20 of the signatures accompanying the letter.
“Our broad coalition of stakeholders understands the value of research, education, and occupational illness prevention from many perspectives, including the labor, academic, and business communities,” the letter reads. “It is with our shared support for occupational research, education, and prevention programs that we urge you to preserve funding for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.”
