Database Allows Users to Search Chemical Ingredients in Cosmetic Products

Published January 29, 2014

The California Safe Cosmetics Program (CSCP) has launched a searchable database that allows users to learn whether cosmetic products they use contain chemical ingredients that are known or suspected to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Users can search by specific products, brand names, or chemical ingredients.

CSCP requires companies to report any cosmetic products sold within California that contain hazardous and potentially hazardous chemical ingredients. The data collected by CSCP is available to the public through the online database.

CSCP is part of the Occupational Health Branch program in the California Department of Public Health. Visit the CSCP Web page for more information.
