EPA has informed AIHA® that it will withdraw the immediate final rule on cadmium issued Dec. 3 based on several letters the agency received raising questions and concerns about the rule’s scope and extent. In an e-mailed announcement, EPA said “[the letters] indicate that there is significant confusion and uncertainty within certain industrial sectors concerning the rule.” The agency will sign a Federal Register notice announcing the decision to withdraw the rule no later than Jan. 2, 2013.
