Published December 26, 2013

A control-banding model recently proposed by IRSST, a Quebec-based research organization, is intended to facilitate selection of respiratory protection against infectious and noninfectious bioaerosols in workplaces, according to an IRSST press release.

The proposed model contains five exposure levels and the four risk groups used in biosafety:

  1. low risk for individuals and communities
  2. moderate risk for individuals, low for communities
  3. high risk for individuals, low for communities
  4. high risk for individuals and communities
