Earlier this month, NIOSH proposed a project intended to assess its contributions to guidelines and risk-mitigation practices for the safe handling of engineered nanomaterials. NIOSH seeks to survey companies that manufacture, distribute, fabricate, formulate, use, or provide services related to engineered nanomaterials in order to help evaluate the influence of its products, services, and outputs on occupational health and safety practices in industry. According to its proposal, NIOSH intends to use the survey data to inform the agency’s research agenda.
The general public and federal agencies may comment on NIOSH’s proposed survey through April 11, 2017. The Federal Register specifically invites comments on whether the survey is necessary for the proper performance of NIOSH’s functions; ways to improve the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents.
More information on the proposed survey is available in the Federal Register notice.
