A new set of information sheets published by the U.K.’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) covers key aspects of the EU’s Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Topics include substances of very high concern (SVHCs); safety data sheets (SDS); guidance for distributors; and information about what REACH means for manufacturers, EU importers, and users of chemicals.
The information sheets were developed by the UK REACH Competent Authority, which provides advice to interested parties on their responsibilities under REACH through a help desk, proposes harmonized classification and labeling, and identifies SVHCs for authorization.
The information sheets are available as PDFs on HSE’s website.
REACH is the EU regulation on the safe use of chemicals, which aims to control risks resulting from the use of SVHCs and to ensure that those substances are replaced where possible.
