Trump to Nominate FedEx Ground's Scott A. Mugno to Head OSHA

Last week, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Scott A. Mugno of Pennsylvania to be assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health. Mugno is currently the vice president for safety, sustainability, and vehicle maintenance at FedEx Ground in Pittsburgh, Pa. He previously served as managing director for FedEx Express Corporate Safety, Health, and Fire Protection. According to the White House press release, Mugno’s “responsibilities in both those positions included developing, promoting, and facilitating the safety and health program and culture.” FedEx has twice awarded him the FedEx Five Star Award for his safety leadership.

Mugno has been a member of ASSE since 2004. In a statement, ASSE notes that he has been active in the association’s transportation practice specialty.
