To verify that the topic of your article will fit The Synergist's editorial needs, please e-mail the editorial staff before you begin to write.
articles should be short, punchy and to the point. Less is more. All submissions will be edited for space, style and clarity. The information must be vendor-neutral. For specific word count information, consult with editorial staff. Articles should be submitted via e-mail
Clarity: Think of the basics of newswriting, the five Ws―who, what, when, where, why. When writing, think of how your work will affect other industrial hygienists. Why should they care? What impact will it have on them? What’s new or different? Updates on current or continuing projects also are good. Focusing on practical applications and relevance to daily jobs is a key component for all materials.
Simplicity: The Synergist is designed to be a quick read. Keep prose simple and readable. Pretend you're explaining what you do to someone outside the profession. Avoid jargon. Offer suggestions on steps to implement ideas discussed in articles. Synergist readers particularly appreciate practical articles that they can use in their daily work.
To be usable for print, photos and other graphics must be submitted as high-resolution files (at least 300 dpi) and in either JPG or TIF format. For more information, contact the editors
Titles and headings: The Synergist welcomes suggestions for article titles from authors, but titles will ultimately be chosen by the editors to fit the content as well as the images and graphics planned for the article. The Synergist's layout allows limited space for article titles. The editors will add subheadings to break up the copy.
Contact information: Please include names and phone numbers with all articles so that readers who want more information can contact the source directly.

is meant to facilitate free and civil debate among readers. If you have comments you would like to make about topics in The Synergist
or issues you feel are important to the AIHA community, please send your letter to firstname.lastname@example.org
All letters submitted are for possible publication. The Synergist reserves the right not to publish letters and to edit letters for space and clarity. Letters that include inappropriate personal comments will not be published.

- Authors of articles that appear in The Synergist will have an opportunity to reply in print to any letters submitted in response to their article. Once the authors’ reply has been published, no further responses will appear in The Synergist. Subsequent discussion will be directed to the Synergist blog or the appropriate AIHA online community.
- Rebuttals to previously published letters are eligible to appear in The Synergist. Once the rebuttal is printed, no further responses will appear in The Synergist. Subsequent discussion will be directed to the Synergist blog or the appropriate AIHA online community.
- The Synergist may occasionally print selected posts to the Synergist blog, with the author’s permission. The Synergist will not print any blog post without the author’s written permission.
