The Untold Story of the 2020 Elections
Lately, news of the elections has largely focused on which political party gained, lost, or maintained power—but there’s a deeper, more important story to be told. The deeper truth is that which party happens to hold power at any given moment matters a lot less than who is in office. In other words, people and relationships matter. People make public policies to help solve our common problems, and relationships cultivate empathy and understanding, resulting in more effective public policy solutions. That’s why building bonds with policymakers is one of the most important things you can do, and the weeks and months after an election represent a particularly opportune moment to establish, build, and strengthen those relationships.
How can you go about establishing or strengthening those relationships? Send me an email, and I’ll provide you with hands-on guidance that will significantly boost your chances of success and make your journey to becoming an effective educator and advocate much easier.
By focusing on unlocking the hidden power of AIHA’s members, we have been able to achieve several government relations successes this year alone, particularly with respect to COVID-19, the Back to Work Safely campaign, and natural disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. There’s a lot more we can do together in the days to come, making it an exciting time to be an occupational and environmental health and safety professional. Regardless of the outcome of this or any other election, our future is bright, because the AIHA family we’ve built is strong and steady.
