Why should I join AIHA?
Does AIHA have a Member Code of Conduct?
Yes. The AIHA Member Code of Conduct summarizes the behavior expected of members and volunteers representing AIHA in any form, mailing list, public meeting, or private correspondence.
Does AIHA have a Code of Ethics?
Yes. The AIHA Code of Ethics Principles is based on the same concepts as the BGC Code of Ethics. These Principles promote ethical professional practices and strongly encourage members to understand their ethical responsibilities.
How can AIHA save me money?

Are there different classifications of membership and dues?
Yes. AIHA offers both individual and organizational options—simply select the one that is right for you.
Can Non-Members join the association as a Retired/Emeritus member?
No. Only active members can become retired/emeritus. (How long do they have to be active to become a retired member)? Full for one year then emeritus.
When is payment due?
In order to ensure your membership continues without interruption, payment is due upon receipt of your first notice. Your membership will lapse immediately on the expiration date.
What kind of payment is accepted? Payment must be made in US Dollars.
• Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) either online or by phone; and
• Checks mailed to: AIHA P.O.B 1519 Merrifield, VA 22116-9990.
Bank drafts may be accepted upon request. A $25 service fee will be added to the dues amount. Send your request to [email protected].
Please never email your credit card information or copies of checks that include routing numbers or other sensitive information.
My membership lapsed. Am I still able to renew?

How do I get a receipt?
When your payment is processed, a receipt will be emailed to you. You can also log in to your account to print a copy of your paid invoice.
I am an individual member. How do I become part of my organization’s group membership?
Since additional fees may be required, please have your organization’s primary contact send an email requesting to add you. If you do not know who the primary is, please contact membership.
How do I switch my membership from organizational to individual? How do I change to retired status?
Contact membership to change your membership type. An updated invoice will be issued at the applicable rate.
Who can renew our organizational group membership online?
If multiple employees from your organization are members of AIHA, the organization’s primary contact will receive the renewal notifications and one combined invoice.
How does our organization add or change organizational members?
Request new additions, deletions, or substitutions by sending your request with the following information to [email protected]: name, title, email address, phone number and address (if different from the Primary address).
Can our organization add or change members any time of the year?
Yes, organizational members can be added or changed year-round. Organizations will be billed for additional members not included in the base rate. These individuals will become active upon receipt of payment.
How does our organization change our primary contact?
Contact membership with the new Primary contact name and whether or not the existing primary will remain an organizational group member or will be removed from the membership.
I am a an organizational member and received an email renewal. Why don’t I see an invoice online?
Group memberships are billed to the group primary member contact. When you receive an email notification that your membership is about to lapse, contact the primary member listed in the email to facilitate renewal.
I received the group invoice to renew, but I’m not the correct person to have received it. What should I do?
Contact membership as soon as possible so we can update our records.
I am experiencing an unforeseen hardship or temporary impediment.
Most common examples are illness, injury, loss of income, and change of employment status. If you are experiencing an unforeseen hardship or a temporary impediment, contact AIHA immediately.
As a student, can I upgrade to a full member?
Yes. Contact Member & Customer Relations (MCR) for assistance.
I cannot remember my login information—what can I do?
- Go to www.aiha.org and select “Sign In” at the top of the page¬—from the pop-up box, please:
- Click the “Forgot Password?” link under the blue Login button. DO NOT select "New Customer" if you are a current AIHA member.
- Input the email address where you receive your AIHA communications and click the Submit button.
- Receive an email with your new username and a link to reset your password.
Will I have immediate access to member’s only access and benefits upon joining?
Yes. Once your application is processed, you will receive your Member ID and log-in directions via email so that you can access the Member Center online.
We ask that you please take a moment to review your Member Profile to ensure that the information is accurate (and to continue to do so periodically). You may access your profile online via the “My Member Dashboard” from the Member Center.
When will my membership expire?
Membership is based on a calendar year—starting January 1 and ending on December 31. Dues will be prorated for NEW MEMBERS ONLY who may join during the year.
When will I receive my renewal notice?
Renewal notices are generated 90 days prior to the expiration date of membership, typically October 1.
Can I access my open invoices or secure receipts online?
Yes. You can access the “My Members Dashboard” via the Member Center.
Can I access my profile online?
Yes. Select “My Member Dashboard from the Member Center—then select “Update my Individual Profile.” You can also update your communication preferences.
Does AIHA offer volunteer opportunities?
Yes. AIHA features close to 60+ technical and professional development volunteer groups. Volunteers can earn CM points for active volunteer service.
I used to be an AIHA member, but dropped my membership—can I rejoin at a prorated rate?
No. Prorated dues are for brand new members only. Please contact MCR for further assistance at 703-849-8888 or [email protected].
I’m an AIHA member who will be retiring soon—does AIHA offer retirees a special rate?
Yes. The Emeritus (retired) rate is $120—a full 50% off the full member rate.
Do I qualify for the student rate even if I am only a part-time student?
Yes. If you are taking at least one-half the credit hours of a full-time student, as outlined by your school’s enrollment policy—example: 12 credit hours full-time = 6 credit hours part-time.
Can I receive a print copy of The Synergist as a full or ECP member who resides outside of U.S.A. or Canada?

Are my dues refundable?
No. AIHA dues are not refundable.
What happens to my membership if I leave my organization?
If you are an individual member, your membership stays with you. If you are an organizational member, the membership remains with the organization.
Are my dues tax deductible?
AIHA dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes but may be partially deductible as a business expense. AIHA estimates that 9% of your dues are not deductible because of AIHA's lobbying activities on behalf of its members. AIHF and AGF are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Contributions to either may be tax-deductible. Consult your tax advisor.
Can I join an AIHA Local Section as well as National?
AIHA national does collect dues for some, but not all AIHA Local Sections. Each section has its own dues structure, member benefits, and features.

No. Each AIHA Student Local Section has its own dues structure and member benefits and features.
Can I be a member of more than one AIHA Local Section?
Yes. No two sections are alike—each features its own dues structure and member benefits and features.
