ASC Z88 and ASC Z9 Looking for Members
The ANSI Accredited Standards Committee Z88, Respiratory Protection Committee and the ANSI ASC Z9, Health and Safety Standards for Ventilation Systems Committee are looking for volunteers to join their ranks. Both committees work to maintain and update existing standards, establish new standards, and resolve issues concerning the standards. ASC Z88 is currently calling for new members from the manufacturing sector. ASC Z9 is calling for new members from the manufacturing and general interest sectors. Call for Nominations for the Board of American Industrial Hygiene Foundation
Thinking about giving something back? The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF) Board of Trustees may be just the opportunity you're looking for.
The Foundation funds scholarships to deserving students in industrial hygiene or a related field, thereby supporting the best and the brightest students, strengthening the quality of practitioners entering our evolving field, and enhancing the profession's image.
Foundation Board members must be willing to put in a few pro bono hours a month on various aspects of Foundation activities, foremost being the work to increase the assets of the Foundation and the opportunity to influence the profession's strategic growth.
Qualified individuals should be prominent in our profession, having exhibited leadership over the years; have management experience, both strategic and operational; be enthusiastic; be willing to devote time and energy to fundraising and working with volunteer organizations; and have a history of support for the Foundation. Trustees are ultimately selected by the Board and serve for a term of three years.

AIHA Co-Sponsors D.R.E.A.M. Workshop
NIOSH is holding the Direct Reading Exposure Assessment Methods (D.R.E.A.M.) Workshop in Washington, D.C., November 13-14, at the Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport. AIHA is a co-sponsor of this event.
The workshop will gather stakeholder input from academia, labor, management, developers, government agencies, and manufacturers on the research needs in the area of direct reading methods for assessing occupational exposures. It is open to the public and will be attended by invited experts, invited stakeholders, and other interested registrants. The workshop will discuss the critical research needs of direct reading methods. Only 230 participants may attend the workshop.

NIOSH National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory To Hold Meeting
The NIOSH National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory is conducting a public meeting on August 20 to discuss current respirator standards development projects for closed-circuit self-contained breathing apparatus; the reevaluation of NIOSH limitations on and precaution for safe use of positive-pressure closed-circuit self-contained breathing apparatus; supplied air respirators; and the mechanical connector design used in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Air-Purifying Respirator.
