Happy Holidays from all of us at AIHA
Dear AIHA Member,
It's hard to believe that 2022 is almost gone. And what a year it has been! In a recent SynergistNOW blog post, I took the opportunity to look back at our achievements this year and share my perspectives on the 22 best things that AIHA accomplished in 2022. If you haven't read it yet, check it!
As announced by Donna Heidel in her September president's letter, the 2023 membership dues will increase by 7 percent. The new rates are intended to help AIHA keep pace with the rising consumer price index and the increased costs of providing services and benefits to our members. This was a challenging decision for us to make at AIHA, as the cost of everything is going up these days. Nonetheless, AIHA remains committed to providing you the best member services and benefits at affordable rates and greatly appreciates your support.
At AIHA, we’re doing our part as well to cut overhead and internal expenses. In September, we moved our headquarters to 3120 Fairview Park Drive, Suite 360, Falls Church, VA 22042. Since most AIHA staff are continuing to work remotely, we no longer need the larger office space we used previously. Our new office, located just across the street from the previous one, is smaller, which helps us save money on overhead expenses yet provides the space our team needs to flourish.
I’m pleased to report that we are adding a new benefit for members only: the AIHA Perks Marketplace. Being an AIHA member already comes with many perks, like access to The Synergist magazine, the online community Catalyst, and the AIHA mentoring program. Starting in 2023, the new AIHA Perks Marketplace will help you save on business and personal expenses by offering exclusive member discounts from brand-name merchants such as Office Depot. New merchant discounts will become available periodically. Keep visiting the Perks Marketplace to see how your affiliation with AIHA can help you save money on everyday expenses.
Another benefit of AIHA membership is the opportunity to be involved in different committees or working groups. We currently have several active open calls for volunteers, and I encourage you to apply. Our 60-plus volunteer groups afford excellent opportunities to serve, lead, and advance the OEHS profession.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to every one of you who has helped AIHA achieve great success this year. Whether you have been an AIHA member for many years or joined us recently, thank you for being part of the Association. We will continue to earn your trust by delivering the best and most cost-effective learning and networking resources available.
I also want to thank our Hamilton Club Partners and AIHce EXP 2022 sponsors and exhibitors. They play an essential role in helping AIHA provide affordable educational resources to members like you. AIHce EXP 2022 in Nashville was the first in-person event since the start of the pandemic, and these companies showed up to support the conference. For this, we’re grateful.
I will conclude this letter by wishing you and your family happy holidays and a happy New Year!
Best regards,
Lawrence D. Sloan, FASAE, CAE
Chief Executive Officer, AIHA.
P.S. Registration for AIHce EXP 2023 is now open. I look forward to seeing you in person in Phoenix.
