Aug. 19 Webinar to Focus on Protecting Building Engineering, Maintenance Staff from COVID-19

An upcoming webinar on Wednesday, Aug. 19, will focus on protecting building engineering and maintenance staff from COVID-19. AIHA members Corey Boles, PhD, and David Krause, CIH, MSPH, PhD, are scheduled to speak and take questions during the webinar, which is being hosted by the National Academies’ Federal Facilities Council. The event description stresses that building engineering and maintenance workers responsible for keeping facilities functioning generally must be on site to do their jobs. Many of them must also work in confined spaces and with other people present for safety reasons, which introduces health concerns during the pandemic. Presentations by Boles and Krause will discuss how to keep these workers safe from COVID-19.

Boles is an industrial hygienist with expertise in aerosol science and microbial exposures who has provided COVID-19 support for clients across several industries in the U.S. and abroad. Krause is a certified industrial hygienist and toxicologist with more than 25 years of experience in public health, occupational hazard assessments, and indoor air quality. He is currently involved in AIHA’s efforts on COVID-19 in the workplace, cleaning and disinfecting non-healthcare workplaces, and risks associated with Legionnaires' disease.

Interested individuals can register to participate in the webinar via Eventbrite. Registration is free.
