Virtual Workshop on “Indoor Chemistry” to Be Held April 5

The Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will host a full-day online workshop titled “Emerging Science on Indoor Chemistry and Implications” on Monday, April 5, 2021. The event is intended to help the National Academies’ Committee on Emerging Science on Indoor Chemistry gather information for an upcoming consensus study that will focus on the state of the science regarding chemicals in indoor air. The workshop will also cover topics such as emerging sensor technologies, modeling exposures to chemicals in indoor air, emissions from building materials and furniture, how indoor chemistry affects human health, and how housing disparities relate to indoor air exposures.

The workshop will feature presentations from leaders in the field of indoor chemistry and panel discussions. Audience participation is also welcome. The event’s final session will cover gaps in the existing data and identify opportunities for further research.

The study of emerging science on indoor chemistry will examine the link between chemical exposures, air quality, and human health. More information about the study can be found on the National Academies’ website. To attend the event on April 5, register online.
