DOL Grants to Help Prevent Workplace Gender-Based Violence and Harassment
Four organizations will use $1.4 million in grants to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and harassment in the workplace, the Department of Labor announced last week. According to DOL, women workers from underserved and historically marginalized communities are disproportionately harmed by workplace violence and harassment. The funding comes from the Fostering Access, Rights and Equity (FARE) grant program and is intended to help community organizations develop programs to mitigate risks and prevent this type of workplace violence, create and distribute educational materials to build awareness among workers, and connect women workers with services, benefits, and legal assistance. The grant recipients are based in California, Massachusetts, and Ohio but serve workers across the U.S., with support in states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Oregon.
The FARE grant program is administered by DOL’s Women’s Bureau and the Employment and Training Administration. Further details can be found in the department’s news release.
