NIOSH Grants Requests from Two Companies to Rescind Respirator Approvals
Two companies—D. Wheatley Enterprises Inc. and Industrias Saver—have voluntarily rescinded one respirator approval each, according to notices posted to the NIOSH website in February. The rescissions affect D. Wheatley Enterprises’ DWE 300S escape breathing apparatus (PDF) and Industrias Saver’s Life 1095 and 1095-2 respirators (PDF). Respirators bearing the approval numbers listed in NIOSH’s notices are no longer approved by the agency and may no longer be used, manufactured, assembled, sold, or distributed. NIOSH directs individuals to contact D. Wheatley Enterprises, Inc. and Industrias Saver for additional information regarding these decisions.
These and other announcements about changes to respirator models’ approval status are collected on a NIOSH Respirator Approval Program webpage. Users can confirm that a device or component is valid through the NIOSH Certified Equipment List.
