National Safety Stand-Down to Begin May 4
The National Safety Stand-Down, an annual event intended to raise awareness of fall hazards, will be held May 4–8. The event encourages employers and employees to discuss fall prevention during planned breaks from work.
OSHA has planned several webinars for organizations interested in participating in the Stand-Down. On April 15, the Showcase of New Resources to Prevent Falls from Premier Partners will highlight tools leading organizations have created to promote fall safety. A webinar on May 4 cohosted by OSHA and CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training will serve as the official launch of the 2026 Stand-Down. An “ask the expert” event on May 5 will focus on prevention through design, and a webinar on May 8 will focus on safe practices for working on roofs. These events are free and open to the public. Registration is required.
According to OSHA, any company or individual interested in fall safety can participate in the Stand-Down. Past participants have included commercial construction companies, residential construction contractors, independent contractors, highway construction companies, employers in general industry, the United States military, unions, trade associations, and other entities.
OSHA’s website offers suggestions for holding a stand-down, highlights from past events, FAQs, and additional resources.
