NIOSH Grants Company’s Request to Rescind Four Respirator Approvals

The company PIP Global Holdings has voluntarily rescinded four respirator approvals, according to a notice published on the NIOSH website this month. The rescission affects four of the company’s Panther-model products, which were previously approved for use to help protect workers from exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents. According to the notice (PDF), respirators bearing the approval numbers 13F-284CBRN, 13F-285CBRN, 13F-286CBRN, and 13F-287CBRN are no longer approved by NIOSH and may not be used, manufactured, assembled, sold, or distributed. Individuals who would like additional information regarding this decision should contact PIP Global Holdings, the agency says.

This and other announcements about changes to respirator models’ approval status are collected on a NIOSH Respirator Approval Program webpage. Users can confirm that a device or component is valid through the NIOSH Certified Equipment List.
