Safe + Sound in School Week Is Under Way

OSHA’s Safe + Sound initiative, which is intended to promote worker safety and highlight the benefits of workplace health and safety programs, is being highlighted in classrooms April 20–May 1 during Safe + Sound in School Week 2026. The event is part of #KeepTeenWorkersSafe, a campaign focused on protecting teen workers year-round. Safe + Sound in School Week is presented by online training provider CareerSafe, a partner in OSHA’s Alliance Program and Safe + Sound. The campaign website provides links to educational resources for teen workers as well as ideas for relevant social media posts about fall hazards, heat stress, and workers’ rights.

Educators and parents are encouraged to host “hazard huddles” (PDF), or conversations intended to help students build awareness about safety at work and develop the confidence to speak up if they think someone might get hurt. The campaign is putting on a hazard huddle challenge, and educators who are interested in participating can register using an online form. A resource for “table talks” (PDF) offers additional questions for educators and parents to discuss with students.
