NIOSH Honors Company's Request to Rescind Three Respirator Approvals

Masprot, a manufacturer of personal protective equipment based in Chile, has voluntarily rescinded three respirator approvals, according to a notice published on the NIOSH website last month. The rescission affects three of the company’s Model Supreme Plus Intercommunicator products, including a half mask with chemical cartridge air-purifying respirator, a half mask with filter air-purifying respirator, and a half mask with cartridge and filter air-purifying respirator. According to the notice (PDF), respirators bearing the approval numbers 23C-2914, 84A-6852, and 84A-6853 are no longer approved by NIOSH and may not be used, manufactured, assembled, sold, or distributed. Individuals who would like additional information regarding this decision should contact Masprot, the agency says.
