3M Fall Protection Issues Product Recall of Two Nano-Lok Devices
Last week, 3M Fall Protection announced an immediate stop use and product recall of the 3M DBI-SALA Twin-Leg Nano-Lok edge and the Twin-Leg Nano-Lok Wrap Back Self-Retracting Lifeline. According to the recall notice (PDF), these products are used as part of a personal fall protection system that connects two self-retracting lifelines or devices directly under the dorsal D-ring of a worker’s harness. 3M has determined that in a fall and under certain conditions, the energy absorber of these devices may not properly deploy, which could expose workers to serious injury or death. Twin-Leg Nano-Lok edge and Twin-Leg Nano-Lok Wrap Back Self-Retracting Lifeline devices must be removed from service immediately.
3M is recalling all of these devices to be repaired or replaced as soon as a solution is identified, tested, and certified. The company notes that there have been no reports of accidents or injuries associated with this issue.
Users and owners of the affected Nano-Loks can find more information about the stop use and product recall online. MSHA has also posted relevant information on its website.
