OSHA: $11.5 Million in Training Grants Available

OSHA recently announced the availability of $11.5 million in Susan Harwood Training Grants to fund training and education for workers and employers on workplace safety and health hazards, responsibilities, and rights. The grants support in-person, hands-on training for targeted audiences such as workers and employers in small businesses; industries with high injury, illness, and fatality rates; and vulnerable workers, including temporary workers. Nonprofit organizations that are eligible to apply for these grants include qualifying community and faith-based organizations, employer associations, labor unions, and colleges and universities.

Grants are available in three areas. Targeted topic training grants are intended to support educational programs that address the identification and prevention of workplace hazards. Training and educational materials development grants support the development of classroom-ready materials that focus on identifying and preventing occupational hazards. The third area, capacity building, focuses on helping organizations develop new capacity for conducting workplace safety and health training programs.
