Webinar to Address "Fatigue Failure" and Musculoskeletal Disorders

An upcoming webinar in a series sponsored by the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of California, Berkeley will address “fatigue failure” and musculoskeletal disorders. On Sept. 18, AIHA Fellow Sean Gallagher, PhD, CPE, will discuss evidence suggesting that fatigue failure of musculoskeletal tissues may be an important etiologic mechanism in the development of MSDs Gallagher will also demonstrate new MSD risk assessment tools based on fatigue failure theory, which assesses the cumulative damage of materials subjected to repeated stress. These new tools include the Lifting Fatigue Failure Tool, or LiFFT; the Distal Upper Extremity Tool, or DUET; and a new shoulder risk assessment tool. Visit the COEH website for more information or to register.

This webinar is part of a series on human factors and ergonomics. Previous webinars in the series covered topics such as cognitive ergonomics, whole-body vibration, and leg and neck muscle fatigue. Archived recordings of past webinars are available for viewing via the series page.
