Falls Church, VA (May 02, 2023)–AIHA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) to enhance and promote the roles of professionals in the fields of occupational and environmental health and safety and ergonomics, represented by AIHA and HFES respectively. AIHA and HFES will work together to plan, develop, and disseminate joint OEHS and ergonomics education programs and will cross-promote each other’s products and services to their respective members.

“The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between our two organizations,” said AIHA President Donna Heidel, MS, CIH, FAIHA. “Through collaboration and the sharing of resources, knowledge, and expertise, we aim to create value for our members and stakeholders and to contribute to a safer, healthier, and more sustainable world.”

According to HFES President Carolyn Sommerich, PhD, “the leadership of HFES is excited to engage formally with AIHA to bring added value to members of both organizations and increased attention to the contributions of human factors, industrial hygiene, and other safety professionals that improve work systems throughout the world.”

“Members of our organizations work to improve the safety and well-being of workers in all walks of life,” she continued. “Joint activities stemming from this agreement will better equip student and professional members of our organizations to be successful in their careers, and future advocacy initiatives will support safer and healthier work for all.”
