This webinar provides background and information on the updates included in the AIHA 2023 Industrial Hygiene Performance Metrics (IHPM), second edition, publication. The use, and potential misuse, of metrics will be discussed, including ethical considerations and challenges presented by artificial intelligence to develop an occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) management system. Examples from application in the field will be reviewed.

Presenters
Alan Leibowitz, CIH, CSP, FAIHA
Alan Leibowitz is the President of EHS Systems Solutions LLC (EHS-SS) following a 30 plus year career as the senior Ethics, Environment, Safety, Health and Security leader for ITT Corporation. At EHS-SS Alan provides executive level support in strategic planning, program management, crisis response and as an expert witness.
Alan is a graduate of Drexel University with a Master’s degree in Environmental Science with extensive postgraduate training at the Columbia University School of Public Health. He is a certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Safety Professional (CSP). He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and for his work in leading the effort to develop the first American National Safety and Health Management System Standard, ANSI Z10.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Board for Global Credentialing (BGC formerly ABIH), the Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA), the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the National Association of Environmental Management (NAEM), the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB). He was also Chair of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Environmental Issues Council and the Environmental Committee of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and as a Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). He is a frequent speaker on Professional Ethics, Disaster Planning, Environmental Health and Safety Management. He has contributed chapters on the subjects to current editions of the textbooks “The Occupational Environment - It’s Evaluation and Control” and “Patty’s Industrial Hygiene”.
Celia Booth, MA, CIH, CSP, ARM
Ms. Booth is principal consultant with CAB Enterprises LLC, a firm specializing in occupational health and safety and leadership consulting. She is also a reservist for FEMA in the safety cadre. Her civilian career encompassed 42 years in occupational safety and health practice, starting with safety surveys in a variety of industries to corporate safety and risk management with Fortune 500 companies. Her 25-year military career included safety surveys in shore and afloat facilities as well as leadership of three Naval Reserve units in three states. Ms. Booth has presented workshops in leadership and ethics for occupational health and safety professionals for over 15 years. She has also authored numerous articles for the Synergist and is one of the editors of the 2023 edition of the AIHA Industrial Hygiene Performance Metrics publication. Her service to AIHA includes 5 years on the Leadership & Management Committee, including all officer positions, for which she was recognized as Volunteer of the year in 2020 and the Birkner Leadership Award winner for 2023.
Scott Lawson, MS, CSP
Scott Lawson is the Midwest Region, Safety and Health Director for Heidelberg Materials. He is a strategic leader adept at building teams and developing management systems (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10) and strategies from the ground up and ensuring they are embedded in the culture. He works with employees, frontline, site, and corporate leaders to enhance compliance and engagement through measurable processes. Scott was also co-editor and an author of the Industrial Hygiene Performance Metrics, 2nd Edition, 2023.
