This webinar will immerse the audience into the fascinating areas of quantitative risk assessment.

Exposure to asbestos fibers and nanoparticles will be used to demonstrate how advanced modeling can help in the evaluation of various exposure levels.

Learn how to benchmark dose modeling based on toxicological studies and epidemiological evidence can improve our knowledge about the dose-response relationship and its applicability to workplace risk analysis.

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Compare potential health issues related to various fiber types of asbestos and carbon nanotubes
  • See what lessons can be learned from the history of asbestos studies and policies to benefit workers’ protection from emerging hazards
  • Identify dose-response relationships for complex and emerging toxicants

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify differences and similarities in asbestos and nanoparticles toxicity
  • Compare various models for quantitative risk assessment of respiratory hazards
  • Discuss the role of benchmark dose modeling as an important tool for human risk assessment
  • Interpret the outcome of quantitative risk assessment in terms of comparative risk acceptability

Presenter:

Dr. Andrey Korchevskiy holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Kazakh National University, and a doctorate in biology from the Institute of Human Ecology and Environmental Hygiene in Moscow.

Korchevskiy moved to the United States 10 years ago, and since then he has been working as a Director of Research and Development at Chemistry & Industrial Hygiene, Inc. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT), a certified industrial hygienist (CIH), and a member of the Society of Toxicology.

His peer-reviewed publications are in the areas of risk assessment and risk management, toxicology and exposure assessment of fibrous minerals and nanoparticles, cancer epidemiology, and mathematical modeling.

Since 2013, Dr. Korchevskiy has taught professional development courses on risk assessment at conferences and seminars for the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the British Occupational Hygiene Society, the U.S. Navy, and Marine Corp., and other public and private organizations.

He is a Distinguished Lecturer of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (since 2017) and is also a chair of the AIHA Standards Advisory Panel (since 2018).
