OSHA has developed new rules pertaining to OSHA Record-keeping and Occupational Health Hazards and has developed new protocols for their inspections. One of these changes is to the inspection metric to add weight to complex inspections such as those involving ergonomic hazards, chemical exposures, workplace violence and inspections, which typically involve the use of the General Duty Clause. Along with these updates has come an increase in penalties due to a "catch-up" adjustment that was recently established. OSHA deems this new system as its resource-intensive enforcement activity and is focused on some of the most severe workplace hazards.

This webinar recording covers aspects of OSHA's new stance on penalties, inspections and highlights the compliance requirements of targeted OSHA programs and the new rules established for recordkeeping and silica. The webinar showcases successful OSHA compliance practices of two organizations to prepare you for these changes. The webinar also looks at what's on the horizon in 2017-2018 for potential OSHA rule changes pertaining to occupational health and safety exposures.

​Presenter

Brendan Moriarty, CIH, CSP, MSPH, has been with Chubb Risk Engineering for 24 years and has been a Risk Engineer for 30 years. In his role as a Casualty Executive Field Specialist, Brendan’s responsibilities include providing Casualty services to Chubb’s largest Risk Management and Real Estate accounts in Chicago. These services include Risk Assessment, Industrial Hygiene Sampling, Ergonomics and OSHA Compliance Audits.

Brendan also works closely with Chubb’s Home Office Risk Engineering staff on developing new service products, providing direction on risk engineering policies and developing guidelines that impact risk analysis and service conducted by Chubb Risk Engineering field staff. Brendan also coordinates Risk Engineering activities with the Chubb Risk Engineering Regional Managers, Specialists and Commercial Casualty underwriting.

Brendan has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology/Occupational Safety from Illinois State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Health/Industrial Hygiene from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. Brendan is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).​
