The International Association for Research on Cancer (IARC) has recently categorized welding fume as a Group 1 Carcinogen, including all welding fume types in the category.
Presenter Mike Harris will explain why that categorization was established, argue the need for future research to define welding fume exposure outcomes, and analyze the welding process that comes associated with elevated exposure risk.

Presenter
Mike Harris received his PhD from Louisiana State University and is President of Hamlin & Harris, Inc. in Baton Rouge, LA. His welding experience includes teaching aircraft welding at the U.S. Army Transportation School, welding environmental test equipment for Ling Electronics, welding aircraft drop tanks at Royal Industries, and welding pressure vessels for nuclear submarines at Aerojet General. Harris was also the 2014 recipient of the Donald E Cummings award.
