NIOSH Webinar on Safety Climate to Feature Presentation from AIHA Member
An upcoming webinar hosted by the NIOSH Total Worker Health (TWH) program will focus on the topic of safety climate in occupational health and safety. Presenters will discuss the definition of safety climate, its effects on worker health, and relevant practical applications. The webinar will also provide an overview of how one organization is applying the concepts of safety climate and TWH. According to NIOSH, the TWH approach “prioritizes a hazard-free work environment for all workers” and “brings together all aspects of work in integrated interventions that collectively address worker safety, health, and well-being.”
The webinar will be held on Wednesday, April 20, at 1 p.m. ET. One of the scheduled presenters is AIHA member Liz Hill, CIH, CSP, who is the Total Worker Health adviser for SAIF Corporation, a not-for-profit workers' compensation company in Oregon. Hill currently serves as vice chair of AIHA’s Total Exposure Health/Total Worker Health Advisory Group and is a past chair of the AIHA Safety Committee. She will be joined by Dr. Emily (Yueng-hsiang) Huang of the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences. Huang has been an occupational safety and health researcher and consultant for more than 20 years. Dr. Casey Chosewood, director of NIOSH’s Office of Total Worker Health, will moderate a Q&A session following the presentations.
Individuals interested in attending the webinar can register for free via Zoom. More information about the TWH webinar series is available on NIOSH’s website.
