The PDC will review: 1) the variety of IH measuring equipment available to perform sampling; 2) the capabilities and shortcomings of the measuring equipment; 3) the pitfalls when performing sampling with each type of equipment; 4) IH professionals' understanding of abilities and inabilities of industrial hygiene sampling; and, 5) situations that may inhibit the accuracy and validity of the sampling. For each sampling type, the course will cover available real-time and grab sampling equipment, not manufacturer-specific; explain the way the equipment operates; what it is designed to assess; what it cannot assess; and what conditions may affect the accuracy and validity of the samples. Course participants will be able to use the discussed equipment.

Course outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Select appropriate measuring equipment for IH assessment work.
  • Develop knowledge on how to setup the equipment.
  • Determine what monitoring to do during IH sampling events to ensure valid sampling results.

Yaniv Zagagi is a Senior Industrial Hygienist in Golder's Jacksonville office. Yaniv has over 22 years of experience in management, implementation, training, auditing and enforcement of environmental, health, safety (EHS) systems. His education and professional certifications include BSc in Chemical Engineering, MSc in Engineering Management, CIH through the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, and CSP through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Adelmarie Bones, MSPH, CIH, CSP

Adelmarie Bones is a Senior Industrial Hygienist Golder's Tampa office. Adel has 15 years of experience in the areas industrial hygiene, occupational safety and environmental health consulting, she provides services to manufacturing, governmental, commercial and higher education clients. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Public Health in Industrial Hygiene Adel is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional.
