Purpose
The Member Experience & Engagement Committee serves as AIHA's strategic volunteer advisory body responsible for enhancing the member experience across all career stages. The committee provides guidance, recommendations, and volunteer-led initiatives that strengthen recruitment, onboarding, engagement, professional development, leadership development, retention, and member value.
The committee supports a seamless and inclusive member journey that fosters professional growth, meaningful participation, volunteer leadership, and long-term connection to AIHA.
Scope of Work
The Member Experience & Engagement Committee will:
Member Lifecycle Strategy
- Evaluate and recommend strategies that improve the member experience throughout the entire membership lifecycle.
- Identify gaps, opportunities, and barriers to member engagement, recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Support initiatives that create clear pathways for members to become active participants, volunteers, mentors, and leaders.
Recruitment and Outreach
- Advise on programs and resources that attract students, early career professionals, and experienced practitioners to AIHA.
- Promote initiatives that support membership growth and expand awareness of AIHA's value proposition.
- Recommend approaches for engaging diverse and underrepresented audiences within the profession.
Onboarding and Engagement
- Support development of onboarding experiences that help new members quickly connect to AIHA resources, volunteer opportunities, and professional networks.
- Advise on strategies that encourage meaningful participation in volunteer groups, events, communities, and professional activities.
- Foster peer-to-peer engagement and networking opportunities across career stages.
Mentoring and Professional Development
- Support mentorship initiatives that help members build professional competencies and expand career opportunities.
- Identify professional development needs and recommend volunteer-led programming that addresses those needs.
- Encourage pathways for transitioning from mentee to mentor and future volunteer leader.

- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve access to AIHA programs, communities, and resources.

- Expand opportunities for members to connect, contribute, and participate.
- Promote pathways that transition members from passive participation to active engagement and volunteer leadership.
- Support initiatives that increase member satisfaction and sense of belonging.
Goal 3: Support Membership Growth and Retention

- Recommend recruitment and retention strategies based on member needs and lifecycle data.
- Foster engagement approaches that demonstrate clear and ongoing member value.
- Help strengthen the pipeline from student and early career participation to long-term membership.
Goal 4: Develop Future Leaders
Objectives
- Promote mentoring, volunteer engagement, and leadership development opportunities.
- Encourage participation pathways that prepare members for leadership roles within AIHA.
- Support succession planning across volunteer groups and committees.
