Registration Opens for Safe + Sound Week

Workplaces are invited to participate in Safe + Sound Week, an annual event held to celebrate the success of workplace health and safety programs and disseminate information and ideas on improving workplace health and safety. The 2021 event will be held August 9–15.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the rate of worker deaths and reported injuries in the United States has decreased by more than 60 percent in the four decades since the passage of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. But every year, more than 5,000 workers are killed on the job and more than 3.6 million suffer a serious job-related illness or injury. According to OSHA, safety and health programs help businesses prevent injuries and illnesses, improve compliance with laws and regulations, reduce costs, engage workers, enhance social responsibility goals, increase productivity, and improve overall business operations.

Safe + Sound Week is intended to promote access to workplace health and safety resources. Brochures, recorded webinars, and programs for boosting managerial and worker engagement are available for download on the Safe + Sound Week website, and participating organizations that complete their Safe + Sound Week events can download a certificate and a virtual challenge coin.

AIHA is an organizer of Safe + Sound Week, along with OSHA, NIOSH, and other organizations. A full list of Safe + Sound Week supporters is available on OSHA’s website.

Registration information for Safe + Sound Week can be found on the event website.
