In Memoriam: Derek Miller
Derek Miller, a leader in occupational hygiene who served several international OEHS societies, passed away on Sept. 8 at the age of 59. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Miller was a Certified Occupational Hygienist as well as a Fellow and past president of the New Zealand Occupational Hygiene Society. He was a founder of the Asian Network of Occupational Hygiene and of the Faculty of Asbestos Management of Australia and New Zealand. He also served in governance roles for the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand and the International Occupational Hygiene Association. Miller spent more than thirty years in occupational hygiene roles with the Royal New Zealand Air Force before opening a consultancy in 2016.
